Words of Welcome from the Festival Chair
We're "streaming live" all year in anticipation of the 44th Annual Issaquah Salmon Days Festival!
Start off with the Grande Parade (an Issaquah tradition) at 10:00am on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, including marching bands, fanciful floats and other community icons. Stroll the streets of Front and Sunset Way, in the historic heart of Issaquah, and check out hundreds of artists as well as dozens of hometown Issaquah businesses. Head on over to the Field of Fun for many free family activities, including the kids’ inflatables, interactive games, art projects and the Puget Sound Dock Dogs…they are sure to provide a thrill for all ages!
Stroll on over to the famous downtown Issaquah Salmon Hatchery, Washington’s only urban fish hatchery, and the heart of the Salmon Days Festival. The Hatchery offers an up-close glimpse of the thousands of spawning salmon completing their multi-year, round-trip journey home…a journey starting and ending in Issaquah, but extending throughout the region’s watershed and well into the Pacific Ocean. The dozens of “Friends of the Issaquah Salmon Hatchery” (F.I.S.H) docents will be happy to answer your questions and share more about the amazing life cycle of these iconic northwest creatures.
Next, catch a favorite band at one of the many festival stages, offering a wide range of music genres sure to suit any taste. And speaking of taste, come hungry - because the Festival’s Foods of the World and Go Fish! venues offer festival eats and treats for all of your family’s festival streamers!
The Salmon Days Festival, in addition to streaming live to over 180,000 attendees, is also a key element of Issaquah’s economic vitality and non-profit organization support. The Festival provides valuable visibility for the community and local businesses and directly supports over 70 local non-profit, service and charitable organizations. Salmon Days is also one of the nation’s most environmentally-friendly festivals, an important value and point of pride for Issaquah.
A heartfelt thank you to the over 500 Ohfishal Festival volunteers who put in countless hours to make Salmon Days run smoothly and safely. Additionally, thank you to the City of Issaquah, Festival and Chamber staff and Board of Directors for producing and supporting our award-winning Salmon Days.
