SALMON DAYS TAKES TOP AWARDS!
Last week, at their annual convention, the Washington Festival & Events Association (WFEA) awarded The Issaquah Salmon Days Festival 2007 the following Summit Awards recognizing outstanding achievements in the industry from Washington State. Other events represented within the same budget category are Bumbershoot, Bite of Seattle and Seafair.
SUMMIT AWARDS:
GOLD - Best Overall Promotional Campaign (highest award
presented) Designed by local designer Robin Spicer and produced by the Issaquah Salmon Days Office
GOLD - Best Newspaper/Program Insert Produced by The Issaquah Press
GOLD - Best Poster/Art Collectable By local Issaquah Artist Matt Mechler and produced by the Issaquah Salmon Days Office
BRONZE - Best Merchandise Item Designed by Robin Spicer and produced by the Issaquah Salmon Days Office
Director of Festivals, Robin Kelley, and Vendor Manager, Andrea
Larsen, were on hand to receive the four awards presented to the
Issaquah Salmon Days Festival this year. The 2007 Festival
theme, based around "Salmon Days '007", included promotional
sub-themes like "Spawn. Just Spawn.", A View To A Thrill!", and
"The Fry Who Loved Me."
Congratulations to the entire Festivals staff, volunteers
and spawnsors for continued success and recognition for the
Issaquah Salmon Days Festival!
CALL FOR ENTRIES - LOCAL & REGIONAL ARTISTS "SPIRIT of ISSAQUAH" 2008 Limited Edition Print
The Issaquah Festivals Office announces a "call to artists" for submissions of original art for consideration for the 2008 Limited Edition Print of "The Spirit of Issaquah ~ A Celebration of Northwest Treasures" series.
Subject matter should reflect the theme of Issaquah's local Northwest treasures, including, but not limited to, the salmon, local scenery, natural surroundings, celebrations and local charm.
All styles and mediums of art are welcome for consideration but must be able to be reproduced for high quality, offset printing. Submissions must be original, completed artwork not previously used in any commercial reproduction. Artwork will be selected by a jury and based on quality of work, content appropriateness to theme, originality and ability to appeal to a broad audience of previous and new local print purchasers and collectors.
Artwork must be received/postmarked no later than 5pm, Wednesday, May 7, 2008 and should be hand-delivered or shipped in appropriate packing material to: The Festivals Office, 155 NW Gilman Blvd., Issaquah WA 98027.
All original artwork will be returned to artists upon final selection and selected piece will be returned following print production. Selected artist will be required to sign and number each print and have the option to prepress and press approvals. Additionally, selected artist will receive a percentage of sales, artist proofs to sell and retain all rights to their original artwork to keep or sell as he/she chooses, with an option to sell/sign prints and/or original during the 2008 Issaquah Salmon Days Festival October 4 and 5, 2008.
Festivals Office proceeds from print assist in producing the annual Issaquah Salmon Days Festival, the major fundraiser for the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce and other Issaquah service groups and organizations.
